Life Begins at 40 : Awakening from the Matrix

by Gary Mitchell Weinstein  on  April 18, 2012

“I know *exactly* what you mean. Let me tell you why you’re here. You’re here because you know something. What you know you can’t explain, but you feel it. You’ve felt it your entire life, that there’s something wrong with the world. You don’t know what it is, but it’s there, like a splinter in your mind, driving you mad. It is this feeling that has brought you to me. Do you know what I’m talking about? The Matrix? Do you want to know what it is? Yes. The Matrix is everywhere. It is all around us. Even now, in this very room. You can see it when you look out your window or when you turn on your television. You can feel it when you go to work… when you go to church… when you pay your taxes. It is the world that has been pulled over your eyes to blind you from the truth. What truth? That you are a slave, Neo. Like everyone else you were born into bondage. Into a prison that you cannot taste or see or touch. A prison for your mind.”
– The Matrix

This will be my last blog post of 2012. I first began this website and blog on January 1, 2011. Thus far, it’s been a bit over 15 months of heavy blogging, letting out my thoughts in a flurry of activity after having researched this “reality” we call life and the world we live in for almost four solid years now. It began in 2008 for me. I had at this time just left my 25-year long career after having had this massive awakening. I was 40 years old . . .

Having poured over and researched hundreds and hundreds of books, articles, papers, journals, blog posts and the like for the last four years I feel it’s now time to sit on it and digest it all. It simply feels like I am at the point of relatively diminishing returns in terms of fundamentally new information that I may have yet to come across. Although there is an infinite amount of information out there in the ether, online and other, the concepts and the main topics I have researched have been covered quite thoroughly by, well, yours truly in my humble opinion. I will of course continue to research, learn and increase my knowledge – forever, but now it’s time to reflect.

Part of this reflection will also allow me to begin work on a book that I have had in my mind to write for some time now, a work entitled, “Life Begins at 40 : Awakening from the Matrix”. It is a distillation of what I have been writing and thinking about for the last four years, and is the prelude to a series of books I will begin to write next year under the heading of “Living The Impossible Dream”. “Life Begins at 40” will tell the story of my own personal awakening from the Matrix, the same matrix that has been my reality for the first 40 years of my life – asleep at the wheel for almost my entire existence, thinking and believing for four decades now that everything in life and in the world was just as I was told it was, when in fact as I later came to understand, everything was in fact just the opposite. A brutal lesson in life, but like other extremely challenging experiences that we all have in our own lives, I am certain that I could not have gotten to this point and this state of awareness and consciousness any other way. It’s the paradox we all live through as we often try to avoid very painful and challenging experiences, but once having gone through them we realize that these same experiences lead us to a necessary place in our lives, one which we could not have arrived at without the experience itself.

Although I cannot think of anything more life-shattering then realizing that just about the balance of one’s entire life has been, well let’s be honest here – a lie. It has been a mind-blowing journey for me over the last four years to say the least – to wake up to the reality of the world as it truly is, one so different from what I thought it was my entire life, and from what I had been told and taught it was. And so many others across the globe are now having similar awakenings, and coming to the same realizations. Imagine – to wake up to the truth – the curtain pulled back to reveal the real truth about, well, the enormous lies we have all been fed. The lies about money, politics, our education system, health care, our judicial, criminal and legal system, organized religion, government, energy and technology, agriculture, the pharmaceutical industry and so many others. Lies continually fed to us throughout our lifetimes by these same groups, not to mention advertisers, marketing agencies and the main stream media. And the world? Just look at it – the emergence of this global corporate fascist state that infects and destroys everything by maximizing profit at all cost, the elite bankers and banking institutions that rule the world and stuff trillions of dollars in their pockets, while ensuring the majority of the population continue to have less and less while billions starve, the unreal amount of corruption pervasive in almost every aspect of society today, the ever increasing Orwellian police state, the frightening, continuing loss of our individual freedoms and liberties, the massive scale of destruction of the environment and everything in the natural world, the never ending war mongering and imperialism of our country and our allies invading country after country to steal their resources and enslave their populations, the illusion of democracy we have been given by our “leaders” in government, the massive poisoning of our air, water, food, and the like. And the true reasons for all of it are just the opposite of what we have been told – one massive cloak of destructive lies. All of this, and so much, much more – how exactly does one come to grips with the enormity of it?

My firm choice has been, in the context of the film the Matrix, to “take the red pill”. For I cannot imagine continuing to live in this world as it is today, nor to have my friends and loved ones live in it, a world that will certainly only continue to worsen with respect to the above if we do not confront it all head on, and do so now. It also means disconnecting and disengaging, and complete non-compliance with the existing system. For if a system is completely and utterly corrupt and illegitimate, why would one comply with it? Others have chosen instead to stay asleep and to avoid confronting these issues, even refusing to acknowledge their existence, although fully aware of it all at the same time. But to do so means they are just in denial of it all, and either way, their lives and their children’s and grand children’s lives will one day be affected by their denial and inaction just the same, the only difference being the story we will have to tell them one day in the future. I don’t want my story to be one in which I tell my loved ones years from now that I stood by and watched it all happen while doing nothing about it . . .

One thing I am fairly certain of is that this period in our collective experience is just the beginning of an absolutely life-altering journey for humanity – one that I strongly believe no one can even fathom in terms of the massive changes that are coming. And to this end, I am quite confident that we as as a species will be heading down one of two paths, and in one of two directions.

One path is the continuation of the reality as I describe above, which to me portends to the end of life and human civilization as we know it on the planet. The other path is one of just the opposite – the collapse of the existing system in every form, which would give birth to something new, a world so magnificent and incredibly beautiful that we cannot even yet imagine it.

But in order to actualize this second reality, there will be necessary pain and sacrifices. And part of this pain for humanity will take the form of the extremely significant resistance that will be put forth by the powers that be to any changes to the existing system, and to the dawn of any new world which challenges the existing paradigm and status quo. In fact, we have already seen this resistance in dramatic and chilling form since last fall with the brutalization of the Occupy Movement throughout the world, and the emergence of a global police state and Orwellian army that has been enforcing it all.

Thus, humanity, with truth on its side, will need to continue to be incredibly strong in the face of this resistance. But we must remember that we, not they, are the immovable force. The following quote comes to my mind, perhaps best summing up this call of action for humanity.

“Rise like Lions after slumber
In unvanquishable number
Shake your chains to earth like dew
Which in sleep had fallen on you
Ye are many, they are few.”
– Percy Bysshe Shelley

For in the end, the reality we end up creating will be birthed from a simple choice that the entirety of humanity will need to make collectively. It will be none other than a choice between . . . fear and love. Following my own personal and painful awakening, I certainly know what my choice is, and I cannot think of a better expression of this than the following simple, yet powerful quote by David Icke:

“Infinite love is the only truth. Everything else is illusion”.

Expect the book, “Life Begins at 40” to be available on or before December 31, 2012 (for free of course), and the next blog post to follow behind right on schedule on January 1, 2013.

I had a similar awakening; I’ve also chosen to take the ‘red pill’. It’s important for those who know the truth to keep spreading it.

Check out for truth. (Best truth site I’ve found)

Yes Rod, agree there’s nothing more important then spreading truth, and I would add – love.

Have seen the SCG site. Lots of good people out there spreading the message. We’re all in this together.
